The Demuth Museum of Art is an Act 48 / continuing professional development provider for Pennsylvania. We enable teachers to earn credit hours while sharing ideas with fellow educators.

  • Bring our Charles Demuth-focused curriculum to your classroom! We are making our curriculum more accessible in hopes that it might aid in students' learning, whether in-school or virtual. To request specific lesson plans with corresponding presentations, please fill out this form.

  • We welcome school group visits to the Demuth Museum of Art! Groups may choose to visit one or both of our locations on King Street and Lime Street. The buildings are approximately two blocks apart in downtown Lancaster.

  • Do you have students in grades 9 - 12 interested in making a difference in our local art community? We invite them to join us in our Demuth Teen Art Council! Within this council, our goal is to start the conversation on how to include teens into the art community in Lancaster. Visit our Opportunities page for more information and application.

    The Demuth Museum of Art is a Chapter of the National Art Honor Society for Lancaster County! All 9-12 graders are welcome! Society members are responsible for paying a $5 fee that gets sent to NAHS and will automatically be registered for the Demuth Teen Art Council. Refer to the Teen Council registration for more information about meetings and other opportunities.

  • The Lancaster Scholastic Art Awards (LSAA) is a regional competition that is open to any student attending school in a participating district. Participating districts are those that have paid the entry fee ($75 per participating teacher). There is no per piece entry cost and students will submit their work through their school district. Each participating teacher may submit up to 50 pieces. All LSAA entries must be submitted digitally. Students will be awarded Gold, Silver and Honorable Mention Awards in addition to sponsored cash prizes. LSAA entries will be exhibited March 6 – April 11, 2026 at the Demuth Museum of Art on Lime and the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.

    This is the first level of a national art competition. Gold awarded pieces will move on to the National component of the Scholastics Art and Writing Competition. Teachers and students should be aware of this and submit only those works that are creative and exceptional, and meet the threshold of competing on the national level.  The judges will consider these aspects as part of their judging criteria. 

    It must be stressed that since the artwork is judged digitally on both the regional and national level, the quality of the photograph is an important part of the entry and must be of the highest quality.

    LSAA’s Online Registration System is open for submissions beginning on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The deadline for submissions is December 14, 2026.

  • Do you use our museums in your classrooms? Utilize this form to upload your lesson plans to earn 3 credit hours for including what you’ve learned at our museums. Once submitted, your lesson will support the museum’s reaccreditation as an Act 48 provider and, with your permission, will be shared with other educators via our secure Google Drive.
