64th Annual Community Art Exhibition Entry Guidelines


Eligibility

The 64th Community Art Exhibition is open to all artists 16 years of age or older who reside or work in Lancaster County. If not a county resident, entrants must be a member of the Demuth Museum of Art.

Entries

All media eligible.

Each artist may enter one piece, which will be accepted for exhibition. Work previously exhibited in a Community Art Exhibition is not eligible. Entries must remain on display until the close of the exhibition. All work must be original. Work designed as a set will constitute one entry, but must not exceed the size parameters.

2-Dimensional work must be ready to hang with wire or similar hardware. No clip frames permitted. The entry (including frame) cannot exceed 24" on any side.

Sculptures must not weigh more than 50 lbs., nor exceed 18 x 18 inches at the base, nor exceed 6 feet in overall height.

Dimensions will be strictly enforced to ensure there is space for all entries.

By entering art in this exhibition the artist grants the Museum permission to photograph the work for publicity, catalogue or educational purposes. Submission of entry constitutes the artist’s agreement to all conditions in this prospectus.

Calendar

Deliver Work to 135 N. Lime Street: June 26 - July 12 during operating hours (Tues., Thurs. - Sat. 10-4, Sun. 12-4). The Museum is closed on Monday and Wednesday.

Exhibition Dates: July 18 - September 6, 2026

Opening Reception: Friday, July 17 from 5 - 8 pm

Pick-up Work: September 8 - 11 from 10 am - 4pm

Reach out to Museum staff to set up a time outside of these hours. Artwork not picked up by October 1, 2026 will be considered abandoned property and will be handled at the discretion of Museum staff.

Fee

A non-refundable fee must accompany each entry:

  • $25 Museum Members

  • $40 Non-members

Awards

  • 1st place: $500

  • 2nd place: $350

  • 3rd place: $250

  • People’s Choice: $250

Juror

A specialist in American art, Amanda C. Burdan is the Senior Curator at the Brandywine River Museum of Art and has organized many exhibitions on the fine and decorative arts of the United States. At the Brandywine she has organized several exhibitions about the work of Jamie Wyeth, including Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled, which traveled to five venues across the country in 2024 and 2025. She previously worked in the curatorial departments at the Florence Griswold Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art. She earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. at Brown University.

Insurance & Liability

The Museum will insure works at the Museum between June 20 and September 12, 2025. The insurance value is either the sale price or another value established by the artist. In the event of a loss, the insurance carrier reserves the right to establish value using standard industry practices. The Museum will not be responsible for damage caused by improper framing, instability, or inherent vice.

Sales

Artwork does not need to be for sale. The Museum will charge a 35% commission on art sales during the run of the exhibition.
