New Director Joins Foundation
 |
New Director, Corinne Woodcock welcomes Mike Carr and Eric Berman to the opening of
the Jerome Hershey exhibition, April 9th. |
Corinne Woodcock assumed her duties as Director of the Demuth Foundation on March 15th.
With an art history degree from Wake Forest University, a broad knowledge of computers,
employment as an analyst with J. P. Morgan & Company, and a year of experience as an
intern in education, development, and collection management at the Reynolda House Museum
in North Carolina she is well equipped to take on the considerable responsibilities
demanded of the Demuth Foundation director. Her activities thus far portend a happy
future. In less than three months, she has been negotiating a major purchase for the
Foundation: At Marshalls. This 1915 watercolor is one of Demuths rare scenes
of black nightclub life; it will add a work of not only distinguished lineage but great
good humor to the Foundations permanent collection. Also, she has arranged for
access to Charles Demuths letters to Dr. Albert C. Barnes, whose remarkable
collection of modern art, at the Barnes Foundation in Merion, Pennsylvania , includes over
fifty examples of the artists work, including his extensive illustrations for books.
She was responsible for hanging the current exhibition of Marc Lidas watercolors for
Prousts A la recherche de temps perdu in connection with the Foundations
annual meeting. |
